Our story

Rana’s recipes,Omar’s grill,Lina’s bread.

Zaytoun opened in 2019 with twelve tables on Jalan Alor and the recipes Rana Khalil had cooked for her family in Amman for thirty years.

Her son Omar lights the charcoal at noon. Her daughter Lina bakes every piece of bread to order. Nothing is frozen and nothing is rushed: the hummus is made each morning, and the knafeh goes into the oven when you ask for it.

Cook it the way you would for your own family, or don’t cook it at all.

  • The hummus tastes like my aunt’s in Irbid. We came for an early dinner and stayed until they closed.

  • The mixed grill for two easily fed three of us, and the knafeh is worth every minute of the wait.

  • Booked on WhatsApp in a minute and our table was ready. They even remembered it was my mother’s birthday.
